Fuel flow meter - indicates 5 gallons per minute flow  - engine primed
Mixture - idle cut off
Clear prop
Mag switches - on
Starter - engage
Mixture - advance slowly to full rich
Throttle - Adjust
Oil Pressure - Check
Repeat for right engine

STARING ENGINES WHEN HOT
Throttle - Full forward open
Propeller control - full forward
Master switch - on
Electric fuel pump - on
Mixture - Full rich to purge lines - Then idle cut off
Electric fuel pump - off
Clear prop
Mag switches - on
Starter - engage
Throttle - Adjust
Mixture - advance slowly to full rich
Oil Pressure - Check
Repeat for right engine

BEFORE TAXIING
Rotating beacon - on
Electric fuel pump - off
Wing flaps - retract
Wing flap selector - off position
Landing gear indicator lights - check green
Avionics master  - on

FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS
Artificial horizon  - check erect and set
Rate of climb indicator - check zero
Altimeter - local pressure and verify field elevation within limits
Clock - set
Pitot heat - on - check ammeter discharge and then off

TAXIING
Taxi area - clear
Throttle - Apply slowly
Brakes - check
Steering - check

ENGINE RUN UP - left engine
Brakes - set
Warm up - 2 to 4 minutes at 800 to 1200 rpm
Mixture controls  - Check rich
Propellor controls - Check full forward
Throttle - 2000 rpm
Propellor - cycle as needed to circulate oil and operate governor, normal drop  - 300 to 400 rpm
Throttle - 1000 to 1500 rpm
Propellor - feather
Manifold pressure - set to 15 inches
Mags - check left and right
Ammeter - charging
Oil temp - check
Oil pressure - check green
Throttle - retard

ENGINE RUN UP - right engine
Brakes - set
Warm up - 2 to 4 minutes at 800 to 1200 rpm
Mixture controls  - Check rich
Propellor controls - Check full forward
Throttle - 2000 rpm
Propellor - cycle as needed to circulate oil and operate governor, normal drop  - 300 to 400 rpm

Wing flaps - zero to 15 degrees
Trim tab  - set for takeoff
DG - Set heading
Engine gauges - Normal
Strobe lights - on

TAKEOFF
Throttles - opening using smooth steady movement
Accelerate to Vr
Control wheel - Back pressure to rotate to climb attitude
Positive rate of climb
Brakes - tap
Landing gear - retract
Landing gear indicator - amber
Climb out Vy - 97 knots
Reduce power to climb setting - 25 - 25
Continue climb at best en route speed - 113 knots
Cylinder head temperature - maintain in green

CRUISE
Power - set per power table
Normal maximum cruise power - 75 percent
Mixture controls - adjust to EGT gauge - 100 degrees rich of peak EGT at 75% power
Auxiliary/tip fuel may be used only in level cruise flight
Propellers - syncronized
Engine gauges - monitor

DESCENT
Propeller controls - cruise rpm
Manifold pressure gauges - 15 - 17 inches
Airspeed - maintain cylinder head temperature in green
Mixture controls - Enrich with descent

APPROACH AND LANDING
Seat - erect
Belt and harness - fasten and adjust
Electric fuel pumps - on
Fuel selector - Inboard main tanks
Landing gear selector - down under 108 knots recommended
Landing gear indicator - green
Wing flaps - as required under 87 knots
Cowl flaps - open
Trim tab - set for landing
Propeller controls - 2400 rpm
Mixture controls - enrich as required
GUMP check - on final
V - app - 83 knots

AFTER LANDING CLEAR OF RUNWAY
Wing flaps - retract
Wing flap selector - Off position
Strobe lights - off

ENGINE SHUTDOWN
Idle - until decrease in CHT noted
Electric fuel pumps - off
Cabin heater - off
Rotating beacon - off
Avionics master - off
Throttles 1800 rpm
Clear plugs - 15 to 20 seconds
Throttles - reduce to 1200 rpm
Mixture controls - Idle cut off
